Japan has sent officials and firefighting equipment to Indonesia to assist authorities in tackling major forest fires affecting parts of Borneo. The fires have generated heavy smoke, affecting communities in the region.
The Japanese assistance is aimed at supporting Indonesia’s efforts to contain the fires and reduce the impact of smoke and other environmental hazards on affected communities.
