The remains were recovered by Palestinian Civil Defence teams after weeks of search operations in areas heavily damaged during the war. Reports said many of the victims were women and children, with one extended family accounting for dozens of those recovered.

Thousands of relatives, residents and community members attended the funeral procession. The remains were wrapped in shrouds and Palestinian flags before being taken for burial at a cemetery in Gaza City.
The recovery operation has been hampered by a shortage of heavy machinery and rescue equipment, making it difficult for Civil Defence teams to search collapsed buildings and retrieve those still believed to be buried beneath the rubble.
The funeral comes as recovery teams continue searching for thousands of people believed to remain beneath destroyed buildings across Gaza, meaning many families are still waiting for the remains of their loved ones to be recovered and buried.
