The monarch reportedly died in Egypt on Thursday after a prolonged illness.
The late Emir spent more than 45 years on the throne of the Gumel Emirate, having ascended the throne in 1981. His death has thrown the people of Gumel Emirate and Jigawa State into mourning.
Born on December 12, 1942, the late Emir served in various government capacities before becoming a traditional ruler, including as Commissioner for Information, Internal Affairs and Culture in the former Kano State.
His death comes less than a year after the celebration of his 45th anniversary on the throne, marking the end of a long reign in the history of the Gumel Emirate.
The Gumel Emirate and the Jigawa State Government are expected to release further details regarding the funeral arrangements and date of the Janazah prayer.
