Nepal: Rescue Operations Continue After Deadly Floods and Glacier Collapse

The disaster has killed more than 1,300 people in Nepal, while thousands remain missing. Hundreds of hydropower workers were also feared trapped inside tunnels after several power projects were hit by the floods.

Rescuers have been using excavators, controlled blasts and other equipment to clear blocked tunnels. In a major breakthrough, two hydropower workers were rescued alive after spending nine days trapped underground at the Trishuli 3A project.

The disaster has also caused extensive damage to roads, bridges, homes and critical infrastructure along the Nepal-China border, with rescue operations continuing in difficult conditions.
